I recently bought a new Sony PlayStation 4 and needed a way to get the audio into my older Harmon-Kardon HK340 receiver. The new PS4 doesn't have optical out and the HK340 doesn't have HDMI inputs. Thankfully, this HDMI to HDMI splitter also splits the audio stream and allows me to run an optical SPDIF cable from the splitter into my receiver. The only thing that I was really worried about was what the picture would look like and what the audio would sound like after having gone through the converter and extra cables. I'm happy to report that I have (so far) been unable to discern any audio or video degradation at all. Mind you I'm using nothing more than an old receiver and a 27" gaming monitor. I'm not sure what it would look like on something like a 65" LED TV. Still, I'm getting a solid 1080P video signal and the audio sounds fantastic. I'm a happy camper.
